In partnership with the National Democratic Institute

The continued squeezing of natural resources by authoritarian governments has created a weaponization of the environment, leading to democratic disenfranchisement of communities throughout the globe. Russia and China in particular have utilized environmental exploitation as a means of economic and political control to further illiberal systems in their own regions and abroad.

Amidst environmental and democratic backsliding, governments and activists have continued to work to ensure that the weaponization of the environment will not allow authoritarian regimes to prosper. Join Foreign Policy and the National Democratic Institute on November 15th, to hear from changemakers and global leaders on what more needs to be done to ensure that we protect our democracies and our planet.
