For months, I’ve been telling you about Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s stubborn refusal to stop holding up the nominations and promotions of more than 300 senior military officers to protest the Pentagon’s abortion policy.
Now, despite the fact that our ally, Israel, is in the midst of a war of self-defense against Hamas, he’s still standing in the way -- leaving many key positions vacant, all as part of a political stunt to advance his right-wing, anti-choice agenda.
After Hamas attacked Israel, I hoped that Tuberville would end his stunt for the good of our and our ally’s national security.
But he refused -- and at a time when our country particularly needs seamless military leadership to handle dangerous situations, Tuberville’s actions are making us weaker.
I’ve called on him to drop this ridiculous blockade. We owe that to our military families, our country’s national security, and the security of our ally, Israel.
