Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I’m pleased to update you on my work in Washington, D.C. and the First District of Kansas. It is an honor to represent Kansans in the Big First District in the 118th Congress. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger, and I believe our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead Let me be clear – America stands with Israel. As of today, more than 1,400 Israelis and 27 Americans have been killed since Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israel on October 7. In response, I helped introduce a resolution committing America to stand with Israel as it rightfully defends itself against these barbaric attacks. I also cosponsor legislation honoring the memory of the Americans who died in the attacks, condemning Hamas, rejecting all forms of antisemitism, reaffirming America’s commitment to Israel’s security, and reinstating the freeze on Iranian assets to prevent them from funding terrorism. Throughout my time in Congress, I have supported, and will continue to support, Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, the Arrow Weapon system, and the David’s Sling system. I am praying for an end to the conflict in Israel, for all hostages to be returned home safely, and for a restoration of peace. America must continue to support Israel, condemn all attacks on Israel’s sovereignty, and hold the Biden Administration accountable for its continued deals with those who support Hamas and other terrorist groups. If you, or someone you know, is in Israel and needs assistance, please reach out to my office, and wherever you are, please join me in praying for Israel. Watch the video below for more about my commitment to standing with Israel. This week, the U.S. House of Representatives may examine additional appropriation bills, including the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act, and the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act. As with all appropriation bills that I consider, my priorities are reducing and reprioritizing government spending, securing the border, and ending the weaponization of the federal government. This week, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Highways and Transit will hold a hearing - "Running on Empty: The Highway Trust Fund," and the House Small Business Committee will hold a full committee hearing - "Burdensome Regulations: Examining the Effects of Department of Labor Rulemaking on America’s Job Creators." Meetings in the Office Scoular Agriculture Inc. High Plains Farm Credit In the Office Restoring Stakeholders' Voices for Water Solutions Last week, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) announced that it would pause its request to secure senior water rights on Rattlesnake Creek Watershed, allowing the Kansas Department of Agriculture and local stakeholders to continue exploring voluntary solutions. When it comes to decisions regarding water rights and regulation, landowners and local stakeholders know best. I am glad to see that the Biden Administration’s USFWS has acknowledged that. This decision recognizes the importance of locally led, long-term solutions that won’t hamstring our agricultural producers and local economies. We need stakeholder consent and voluntary action, not big government. Celebrating Kansas Farmers October 12 was National Farmer's Day. On this day, and every day, I think about the men and women who ventured west in search of new opportunities. American farmers settled in Kansas as they struggled through the dust bowl, raised their kids in sod houses, and broke the prairie. Whether it’s trudging through knee-high snow in the dead of winter, working the fields in the heat of summer, or hauling water during a drought, farmers across America still work from sunup to sundown so we have a safe and secure food supply. Advocating for farmers in the Big First District is the honor of a lifetime. I am grateful for all of the individuals who work tirelessly to feed, fuel, and clothe our world. I highlight different agricultural heroes in my Ag Hero of the Month series. Click the photos below to read some of their stories.
