House Republicans think Jim Jordan should be the new speaker of the House. It’s stunning.

Not even three years after the January 6th insurrection, one of its ringleaders is on the cusp of a gigantic promotion — one that would put him second in line to the presidency.

Apparently, some in the media feel like it’s unfair to label Jordan an “insurrectionist.” They’re calling him a “firebrand” instead. So let’s review the facts:

The House’s own January 6th Committee described Jordan as a “significant player” in Trump’s scheme to overturn the election.

He conspired with the Trump White House on ways to delay the certification of the election, and was part of the strategy session that led to calling Trump supporters to descend on Capitol Hill that day.

He even personally suggested that Vice President Pence simply ignore electoral votes he didn’t agree with — an idea that is as unconstitutional as it gets.

Reports say that he spoke with Trump at least twice on January 6th, including a conversation that lasted 10 minutes as the riots were developing.

Finally, after the violence that day, Jordan voted to reject the certified election results that Biden defeated Trump in Arizona and Pennsylvania.

That’s what we know . (And we’re not even getting into his role covering up a college wrestling sex scandal.)

People who’ve done what Jim Jordan did don’t belong in the United States House of Representatives. They certainly shouldn’t get to run it.
