Including All Abilities

When Ann Joyner and her husband first visited the Church of the Resurrection in 1993, they had no intention of returning. While they enjoyed the service, there was an instrumental piece missing for the family: there were no Sunday resources to support Joyner’s 9-year-old son, Matthew, an individual with special needs. BE UMC Slide Deck

As we read stories of congregations leaving the denomination, it’s only natural to feel anxious about the future of The United Methodist Church. As we think ahead, we need to look back and remember our roots and shared principles that have always defined us as a denomination. The UMC will continue to be a biblical, diverse, inclusive and Spirit-filled denomination grounded in scripture and of teachings of Jesus Christ. United Methodist Communications has created a special presentation called “We are the church. Together” that will remind congregations of their identity as United Methodists while also inviting them to have constructive conversations about what they open the future will bring, both for The UMC as a whole and their congregation.
