This weekly digest is a method to communicate updates, initiatives and policy changes from the Aging and Adult Services Division (AASD) and Disability Services Division (DSD) in a simplified way. We send this announcement every week on Tuesdays.?

DSD messages

Reminder: DHS seeks new members for the EIDBI advisory group [ [link removed] ]

* *Audience:*?Lead agencies, tribal nations, school staff, advocates, self-advocates, managed care organizations, families, caregivers, mental health and EIDBI providers and other parties interested in autism and EIDBI services
* *Effective date:* Immediately
* *Summary:* DHS is recruiting new members for the EIDBI advisory group, which advises DHS on a health benefit for people younger than age 21 with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related conditions. To apply for one of these positions, DHS invites interested applicants to submit an application by Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2023.

DWRS component values update scheduled for January [ [link removed] ]

* *Audience:*?Home and community-based services providers, lead agencies and other interested parties
* *Effective date:* Jan. 1, 2024
* *Summary:*?DHS will start using updated DWRS component values as required by the Minnesota Legislature starting Monday, Jan. 1, 2024. DHS will include new component values in the December updates of the MnCHOICES Support Plan and revised MnCHOICES applications. These systems will start using the new values on a rolling basis as service authorizations change or renew because some need approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. DHS will send out more information and the specific dates for component value updates as we approach them.

Policy update about temporary admission to certain settings for a person using the DD Waiver [ [link removed] ]

* *Audience:*?Lead agencies and other interested parties
* *Effective date:* Retroactive to May 1, 2022
* *Summary:*?Effective retroactive to May 1, 2022, people who used the DD Waiver and were temporarily admitted to certain settings for up to 121 days may restart waiver services without an assessment when they are ready to return to a community setting. MMIS can now apply this policy for a person using the DD Waiver. If the lead agency has already entered a waiver exit, no action is needed. Contact DHS for help reopening the waiver.

* *Audience:* People who receive services, providers, lead agencies, tribal nations and other interested parties
* *Event dates:* Oct. 24 and 26, 2023
* *Summary:* The annual Minnesota Gathering for Person-Centered Practices is Tuesday, Oct. 24 and Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023. The two-day event is open to anyone interested in person-centered practices and positive supports.

Major Changes webinar recording now available [ [link removed] ]

* *Audience:* Lead agencies and other interested parties
* *Summary:* The recording of the Major Change Initiatives webinar from the 2023 Odyssey webinar series is now available online. During the two-hour session, DHS staff members described four major initiatives that should help to better serve and support older adults and people with disabilities.
