Friend, to be perfectly frank with you, these last few weeks have been some of the most frustrating I’ve experienced since coming to Congress in 2019.
First, on September 30, we narrowly avoided a Republican-manufactured government shutdown at the eleventh hour.
Then, the deeply-divided Republican majority ousted the Speaker of the House for the first time in American history. The ongoing Speaker election has proved just how committed my colleagues across the aisle are to placating the furthest right in their ranks.
Now, we have just over a month until government funding runs out again, and Americans are looking to their leaders in Congress to do their jobs.
Our country needs and deserves a functioning House of Representatives, and Democrats are ready to make that a reality once again. I’m setting a goal to activate 100 donors by the end of the week – $24 to help us prepare for 2024. Only if you’re able, will you donate today to show the House GOP we’ve had enough of the partisan games?
And as the dysfunction continues to unfold, I’m thinking back on all that we accomplished in the last Democrat-led Congress – one where we had the same small majority that is currently befuddling my colleagues across the aisle.
You and I both know that Democrats are serious legislators interested in addressing the needs and challenges of Americans nationwide, and that’s why we must be as prepared as possible to run competitive campaigns in swing states (like Pennsylvania!) that will determine the House majority in 2024.
