Dear John,
Abraham Lincoln is often credited with saying: "The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next."
Right now, progressives are advancing a radical liberal agenda in education. Many liberal interest groups are targeting our nation's classrooms with their sociological agenda.
Our public schools are being fundamentally transformed with much of the focus on LGBT education, while standards in math, reading, and history steadily decline.
According to U.S. News & World Report, in 2017-2018, national test scores were down in both reading and math, even as total education spending increased to $706 million. Even history scores are falling, with many students either receiving a revisionist version of our nation's history or not being taught America's founding principles at all.
At Family Research Council, we understand what is taught in classrooms today will shape the worldview of the next generation. Left unchecked, this education crisis -- one decades in the making -- will continue with drastic results. That's why I'm issuing a clarion call to all Christians.
We are calling on our FRC partners to combat this crisis in our public schools on the frontlines--at your local school board!

Bill Bennett, former Secretary of Education, remarked on Washington Watch, "Our students don't know who they are as Americans. The history that is taught is left-wing, tendentious, and politically correct. It's a terrible situation."
Perhaps the most significant threat is that there are those in our educational institutions who want to delegitimize and wipe out the principles on which this country was founded. The same ideas that united us as a nation now divide us -- because students are being taught to hate what America represents.
Make no mistake: this is a deliberate effort in our schools to attack the founding principles we cherish, especially religious freedom.
In a recent speech, Attorney General William Barr called schools "ground zero" for attacks on religious liberty.
We must turn things around! There's a cultural battle, and it is time we reclaim "ground zero," starting with our local school boards!
Political elections affect educational policies and standards at the national and state level, but local school boards are where parents and citizens can have the strongest impact.
We can retake our children's education from the radical Left when we make it our mission to get involved, hold school board officials to common-sense expectations, and push back against indoctrination that undermines our God-given rights as parents.
