Dear Email,

The past ten days have been some of the most challenging in recent memory for Palestinians and our supporters across the globe. Israeli aggressions have been ongoing, and the death toll continues to rise as the Biden administration and the rest of the U.S. government refuse to call for a ceasefire and continue to stoke anti-Palestinian sentiment. No one has been spared from these horrors, including two of our own staff members who have had family members killed and displaced due to the ongoing Israeli bombardment.

AMP and AJP Action have been working tirelessly on behalf of our community, doing everything we can to help end the siege and destruction of Gaza. Our three pillars of work are to educate, advocate, and organize our grassroots base across the country, and this is how we have responded to the current situation in Gaza. Here's a look at what we have been able to accomplish so far:

Intensive Advocacy with Elected Officials

1. Action Alerts

We have released 3 action alerts since this situation began and our community has responded as strong as ever. Over 18,000 calls and emails have been sent to Members of Congress and the White House demanding they take action against the Israeli atrocities. Take action in our latest action alert here and please share with your family and friends.

2. Calling Campaigns

We have been assisting community centers and supporters across the country in organizing calling campaigns to reach out to their elected officials and demand an immediate ceasefire. If you would like to organize a calling campaign in your community, please contact [email protected].

3. Endorsed the “Ceasefire Now” Resolution

We endorsed the Ceasefire Now Resolution in Congress led by Congresswoman Cori Bush, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, Congressman André Carson, Rep. Summer Lee, and Congresswoman Delia Ramirez urging the Biden Administration to call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire. We encourage all our supporters to reach out to their Members of Congress and demand they sign onto this resolution. You can reach out to your Representative to demand they sign onto this resolution by clicking here.

4. Condemning the Tragic Hate Crime Against 6-year-old Palestinian American Wadea Al-Fayoume

We released a statement condemning the heinous hate crime against 6-year-old Palestinian American Wadea Al-Fayoume and his mother in Plainfield, IL. We demanded that President Biden meet with the Al-Fayoume family, condemn anti-Palestinian bigotry unequivocally, and advocate for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. We emphasized the need for President Biden to address the consequences of his prior statements that may have amplified propaganda and promoted a one-sided narrative concerning the situation in Gaza, potentially contributing to anti-Palestinian hate crimes in the U.S. Furthermore, Our executive Director Dr. Osama Abuirshaid traveled to Illinois to attend the funeral and stand with the family during this difficult time.

Raising Awareness & Educating the Public

1. Mainstream & Local Media

Our Executive Director and dedicated staff have transcended boundaries, serving as prominent voices in both national and international media such as BBC, CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, NPR, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and Aljazeera. Their presence on these platforms has not only shed light on the ongoing plight in Gaza but has also showcased the remarkable work we are tirelessly undertaking. Their appearances are guiding discussions and propelling our mission to the forefront of public consciousness.

2. Social Media

Our digital media team has been instrumental in advancing our mission. They've raised awareness about Palestinian challenges, educated the public, and debunked misinformation. They've consistently updated our audience on developments and provided action tools for advocacy, while also promoting our messages, events, and programs. Their dedication remains the driving force behind our ongoing efforts. Follow us on our socials (@AMPalestine) to see the tremendous content we are producing.

3. Educational Events

Our commitment to education has been unwavering, with daily educational events conducted both online and in-person across the nation. These events serve as a vital platform not only for educating our community on the situation at hand but also for actively debunking misinformation and ensuring that the truth prevails. We don't merely inform; we inspire action. Through our tireless efforts, we engage, motivate, and empower individuals, encouraging them to actively participate in our advocacy actions. These events are more than just gatherings; they are catalysts for change, shaping informed and motivated advocates who are dedicated to our cause.

4. National Imam’s Meeting & Friday Khutba Guidance on the Situation in Gaza

We organized a private meeting, convening 150 Imams and community leaders from across the U.S. to strategize on how to navigate discussions about the current situation and to give them resources to keep their communities safe and better informed. Building upon this crucial initiative, we issued a comprehensive public guidance to all Imams and speakers with talking points for their Friday sermons and community discussions.

Mobilizing Our Grassroots/Communities

Leading Protests and Rallies

Our collective efforts have ignited a nationwide movement, with both our staff and chapters spearheading protests and rallies across the country. In a remarkable display of solidarity, Washington, D.C. became a focal point of our organizing, as over 10,000 individuals converged in front of the White House, their voices resonating with a resounding call for a ceasefire. This monumental gathering symbolizes the unwavering commitment of our community, as we stand united, demanding an end to the Israeli destruction of Gaza. These protests are not just events; they are monumental milestones in our journey, demonstrating the power of unity and the resounding determination to create change.
