The tragedies over the past 72 hours have pulled me -- and all of us -- into shock and grief.

Every person should be free to shop without the fear of being shot.

Every person should feel safe going out to a bar or restaurant with friends.

We all have the inalienable right to safety -- yet for years and years Mitch McConnell and his Republicans have refused to act on gun violence prevention.

In fact, McConnell takes glee in refusing to bring any bipartisan legislation to the Senate floor, even after the House has passed universal background checks.

And I have had enough.

I refuse to sit by and watch them fail to uphold their moral obligation to keep our country safe any longer. But I need you with me.

I’m counting on 2,OOO,OOO grassroots supporters to rise up and let McConnell and his Republicans know we won’t stand for this any longer.
