John —
Today, I feel gratitude.
Gratitude because ten years ago today — on October 16, 2013 — the people of New Jersey came together in a special election to do something you had never done before:
You elected me as your United States Senator.
I still remember the amazing feeling from that night.
The New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark — in the city where I served as mayor — was packed with supporters, raucous with Bon Jovi’s music, and brimming with hope for what this next chapter for our state and our country could represent.
That night, I told our staff, volunteers, and community members who showed up to celebrate with us:
“Too many people are forgetting that the lines that divide us are nothing compared to the ties that bind us. It forgets that old saying, ‘If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.’”
For the last ten years, I’ve worked hard to strengthen the ties that bind us together, to build consensus, and to affect the changes we need to see to build the more just, loving nation that I know we can be.
I’m so grateful to have you be a part of this campaign — whether you joined us all those years ago, or in the years since.
I’m looking forward to having you by my side while we continue to build this movement together.
Thank you so much for everything you’ve done to support me and our campaign.
With love and gratitude,
Cory
