A lot of people out there are not paying the bill.
Here’s a comment we hear a lot: ‘I agree with progressives on a lot of issues, but I don’t believe in wasteful government spending.’
Well, neither do we. Progressives believe in making investments that actually have returns.
It means investing in education, so that people are actually able to participate in an economy that will pay higher wages — which in turn yields higher revenues — rather than making 80% cuts to the Dept. of Education for low-income schools.
It also means taxing the rich. Because there are billionaires out there who are not paying the bill. What they are doing is taking Supreme Court Justices on private jets in order to facilitate rulings that further aggregate their wealth.
Taxing the rich is where we’re going to find the budget so that kids can go to good schools and so that we can make progress on policies like guaranteed healthcare in the United States of America.
