Dear John,
Just over a week ago, the barbaric Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel shocked us all. The anger and sorrow are still raw, but we are all pulling together to cope with what comes next.
Today, we want to share the most up to date resources to help you, your family and your community.
We also want to remind you that ADL is on full alert, leveraging our capabilities and leaning into our expertise in understanding how antisemitism emerges from crises like this.
ADL has been engaging with the White House on a daily basis about Israel’s need for support and how best to keep Jews safe in the United States, leveraging the new National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism. We are monitoring the literally hundreds of anti-Israel rallies happening on campus and in communities. We are calling on those with influence to speak out against antisemitism, terrorism and hate and we are actively engaging and supporting local partners, communal allies and our friends overseas. We are in close contact with Jewish communities around the world to ensure they
have the support they need in the face of intensified threats.
Our ADL Center on Extremism reports that since the crisis began, antisemitic incidents are spiking compared to the same time last year. However, the hate sparked in the U.S. by this conflict has not just hurt the Jewish community. We’re horrified that a six-year-old Palestinian boy in Illinois was murdered and his mother severely injured, allegedly because of their Islamic faith and as a response to the war. We must all reject hate-fueled violence everywhere, full stop, and strive to live by the highest moral standards and not sink to the level of terrorists.
