Amid the chaos in Congress and the ongoing search for a speaker of the House, Derek has continued working and fighting for the people of Washington.

Just over the last few months, our nation has faced near-default, government shutdowns, and now, a vacant speaker's chair. The American people deserve better. • Economic Recovery: Derek has been working hand-in-glove with the Biden Administration on standing up the RECOMPETE Program that he authored to help communities and create jobs.

• Healthcare: On top of continuing the fight for affordable healthcare access for all, Derek recently unveiled the Mental Health Infrastructure Improvement Act to increase mental health and substance use disorder care access in underserved regions.

• Education: Derek joined a group of bipartisan legislators to reintroduce the Supporting Early-Childhood Educators’ Deductions (SEED) Act, which aims to expand tax credits for early childhood educators and seeks to provide additional financial support to those working in the early childhood education sector.

• Environmental protection: Derek will never stop pushing for green energy solutions and policies to protect our environment for future generations, and recently announced over $18 million in funding for culvert restoration to improve fish passage across Washington's 6th District.
