Marie-Louise Gay's picture book 'Read Me a Story, Stella' has been taken off library shelves in Alabama because it was flagged as ‘sexually explicit’ – just because the author’s last name is ‘Gay.’
This is exactly the type of nonsensical attack that MAGA extremists continue to throw at the LGBTQ community. And it’s precisely why it’s critical that we elect leadership who will safeguard the rights and dignity of our community.
I'm proud to share my track record in this fight. In 2018, I successfully unseated the author of the notorious Texas Bathroom Bill, winning by double digits, and went on to establish the House LGBTQ Caucus. In the most recent 2023 legislative session, we defeated 141 out of 144 proposed anti-LGBTQ bills.
