1) Then I Will Huff and Puff and Blow Your Building Down!
Our friend Marc Morano of Climate Depot (which exposes the almost-daily lunacy of the climate change cult) has just called our attention to what might be a new low for the radical green movement.

The United Nations has issued a report on “building material and the climate,” which urges that builders start using bamboo, biomass, and wood to erect new homes and buildings. The report also recommends against concrete and steel because they use too much electricity.

If this sounds like a parody, it isn’t. Here is one of the “three-pronged” recommendations from the UN and the Yale Center for Ecosystems + Architecture (Yes, there is actually a program at Yale called that!):

We bet you didn’t know that using steel, cement, and concrete is no longer “ethical.” Apparently, the authors of this report never heard of the Big Bad Wolf of Three Little Pigs nursery rhyme fame.

2) California Spends Twice as Much as Florida per Person on Welfare
When FL Governor Ron DeSantis debates CA Governor Gavin Newsom, he may want to mention that California is the third biggest welfare state in the country, and Florida is the third SMALLEST — even though the poverty rate in both states is roughly the same.

3) And the Landslide Winner in the Louisiana Governor Race Is…School Choice
[link removed]
The Republican Attorney General of Louisiana, Jeff Landry, won the race in a 25 percentage point landslide against a field of candidates in this weekend’s off-year election.

He replaces Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards, who was a ferocious opponent of school choice and vetoed multiple bills to expand parental choice.

Governor-elect Landry is a strong supporter of the universal school choice bill that passed Louisiana’s House by a 62-to-36 vote this spring.

“Our state is consistently ranked 50th in the country for the education we provide our children, despite spending more dollars per student than all of our neighbors in the southeast,” he told supporters.

“Parents should be empowered to decide how their child can best achieve their fullest academic potential.”

Landry has also said that he wants to chop or even eliminate the state income tax in Louisiana.

4) Speaking of Happy Election Returns: New Zealand and Ecuador Elect Free Market Leaders
Remember Jacinda Ardern? The “woke” Prime Minister of New Zealand was applauded as “Saint Jacinda” in elite circles for imposing a draconian lockdown in order to pursue a hopeless “zero COVID” policy. She turned her country into a “hermit kingdom” to the point that more than 15,000 Kiwis were trapped abroad and not allowed to return for two years. She finally had to abandon her stance as COVID finally began to spread anyway, as was always inevitable.

The citizens gradually realized she had isolated the country and hurt the nation’s economy. She resigned her office suddenly in January, seeing her approval ratings plummeting.

On Saturday, Ardern’s Labor Party was decimated at the polls, receiving only 27 percent of the vote. As the Washington Post reports:

“New Zealand moved sharply to the right on Saturday with the National Party, led by businessman-turned-politician Christopher Luxon, poised to form a coalition with the libertarian ACT Party and make good on promises to cut government spending and taxes.”

But wait, there’s more good news from the ballot box.

Noboa ran on a platform of fighting drug violence, pro-business policies, and speeding up a stagnant economy in Ecuador. “We need to address the urgencies: lower violence, youth unemployment and create new work opportunities,” Noboa says. “Ecuador must turn into a competitive country. Because it’s not.”

We could use someone with that philosophy here in the United States.

5) Canadian Supreme Court Kills Trudeau's "No More Pipelines Act"
Some cheerful news from north of the border:

[Canada's] top court dealt a blow to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s environmental policy on Friday, declaring the Liberal government’s Impact Assessment Act for major development projects involves an unconstitutional breach of provincial jurisdiction.

The case was heard after the federal government appealed last year’s ruling by Alberta’s top court, which declared the Impact Assessment Act unconstitutional because it violated the division of powers between Ottawa and the provinces. Federal Conservatives and provincial opponents — including Premier Doug Ford — have long lampooned it as the “No More Pipelines Act,” arguing that it imposes an undue burden on the private sector and will slow down or prevent major projects from getting built.

This pretty much leaves the United States as the only country not building pipelines!
