Join CSVANW for a new training on trauma-informed healthcare for AI/AN victims of trafficking. Nearly all victims of trafficking have at some point had contact with healthcare providers while they were being trafficked, often without the provider knowing or being able to identify the reality of the victim’s trafficking. This training will cover the challenges in identifying and supporting trafficking victims that navigate the healthcare system.

Objectives:

  • Understand the challenges of healthcare accessibility for AI/AN victims of trafficking, and pinpoint how healthcare needs are not being met by service providers
  • Provide insight into trafficking screening questions for victims who engage with healthcare services in order to identify when they are being trafficked and refer them to the necessary resources
  • Understand how systematic violence towards unhoused and marginalized populations contributes to the crisis of trafficking within Indigenous communities
  • Define what trauma-informed healthcare looks like for AI/AN victims of trafficking, and how service providers can improve their practices to accommodate victim needs
  • Bridge the gap between healthcare providers and trafficking victims by educating providers on best practices for building trusting relationships with victims

Intended Audience: Healthcare providers, victims advocates, and social workers involved in the healthcare system.
