*LANSING, MICH.* The Michigan State Police (MSP) is now accepting applications from licensed police officers across the state and country who want to join the MSP and is offering them the unique opportunity to participate in a shortened recruit school.

The 146th Trooper Recruit School [ [link removed] ], which is only open to licensed police officers, is eight weeks shorter than a typical trooper recruit school, in recognition of the prior training and experience these applicants bring to the job.

?Our troopers work in every corner of the state, which we know could be attractive to those wanting to stay in their home communities or to others ready to make a move,? said F/Lt. Brian Buege, commander of MSP?s Recruiting and Selection Section. ?MSP provides ongoing top-notch training and equipment, excellent benefits and other supports for employees, and there is ample opportunity for career advancement and specialty assignments.?

Applicants must have two years of continuous law enforcement service and be either a Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) licensed police officer or obtain the MCOLES Recognition of Prior Training and Experience if currently employed out-of-state. The department?s standard hiring process applies, and applicants will have the opportunity to select their top three post locations.
