South Carolina Democrats,
On MSNBC with Craig Melvin last week, SCGOP Chair Drew McKissick said that the Democrats would have a real turnout problem on Primary Day.
McKissick said that South Carolina Democrats were looking at a “real turnout problem,” and predicted maybe 400,000 votes at most. He said this turnout was directly connected to voter enthusiasm.
Well, one thing is for sure - Democrats are definitely enthusiastic. And Saturday’s Democratic Presidential Primary was record breaking.
More Democrats than ever before turned out to vote: 539,020 to be exact.
Several counties saw more than a 80% increase in turnout, including counties that have historically been Republican strongholds like Greenville, York and Lancaster.
McKissick and the rest of the SCGOP have clearly underestimated the enthusiasm Democrats have going into November 2020.
Frankly, these numbers should scare Republicans like Lindsey Graham, who will face his toughest challenge yet come November.
Help us keep this momentum rolling by donating whatever you can to help the SCDP elect Democrats up and down the ballot next November.
Let’s show the Republicans that this increase in enthusiasm is just the beginning.
