At 27 years old, I ran for office for the first time. Since part of my platform was opposition to the Iraq War, I could feel the party establishment closing down around me — because I dared to stand for progressive ideals against a Democratic incumbent.
I can’t help but feel some of those same things right now. As the establishment wing of the party closes ranks around Joe Biden, all to defeat our progressive movement, that erasure from almost two decades ago feels fresh.
As voters cast their ballots in the biggest contest of this primary, your help is absolutely crucial to victory. Bernie Sanders doesn’t have a massive, shadowy Super PAC to boost him.
He has us. Every step of the way, our national progressive movement has been built by $3, $10, and $27 donations from a broad coalition of young people, working-class folks, people of color, immigrants, and so many more.
We can’t afford to go into 2020 without a candidate who speaks to the working and middle-class people of this nation. Let’s put our heads down, work like hell, and elect Bernie Sanders as the next President of the United States.
In solidarity,
Ro Khanna
