Standing with Israel
The reporting and footage coming from Israel is both disturbing and heartbreaking. I join my fellow Americans in condemning the vicious and unprovoked attacks on Israel perpetrated by Hamas.
In the early hours of October 7th, the world witnessed an unprecedentedly savage terror attack on Israel, which led to over 1,300 Israeli lives lost and over 3,000 individuals injured. Following Hamas’ barrage of rockets and subsequent incursion into southern Israel, terrorists indiscriminately attacked, murdered, and abducted Israelis and other foreign nationals – including Americans. It is now confirmed at least 29 Americans were killed, while numerous others remain unaccounted for or are believed to be held hostage in Gaza.
These shocking acts of violence by Hamas on the Israeli people -- and particularly upon innocent women, infants, and the elderly -- are a stark reminder of why the United States must remain a resolute ally of Israel. The nation of Israel has every right to defend itself, especially now, as it faces additional security threats along its northern border. As one of our strongest and most important allies, America must be steadfast in our support of Israel and the Israeli people.
