John, Today I released a statement to the press about the White House's handling of the coronavirus outbreak. It goes without saying, global pandemics are a serious issue. We need a leader who prioritizes preparedness, responds quickly and efficiently and values the lives of American citizens. ***STATEMENT*** "It is terrifying that the White House is restricting messaging from the CDC to local health departments. Withholding important information from public health officials is a matter of National Security. Our nation's public health experts should be leading this charge. We must provide frontline responders with everything they need to keep us safe - including up-to-date, reliable information from the government, the funding necessary to treat and stop coronavirus, and affordable vaccines. It is unconscionable that this President has politicized a global pandemic at the expense of our lives with no repercussions." The second case of coronavirus has been confirmed in New York.
