As a kid, the post office held a special place for me and our small community. We had a general store and a post office. That was it. I quickly became friends with the postmaster and started collecting "first day of issue" stamps - which I still have today.
Our postal workers are the unsung heroes of our communities. They connect us, they bring us news, they ensure we receive our vital medications, and they facilitate the smooth functioning of our businesses. Yesterday, I spoke at the Wisconsin State Association of Letter Carriers fall seminar. I was honored to address a group that is working to ensure door delivery is expanded, not restricted or eliminated.
Cutting this service would not only undermine the Postal Service's workers but also jeopardize revenues far more than any potential cost savings. But it's not just about dollars and cents. Our letter carriers are the eyes and ears of our communities.
They're often the first to respond in emergencies, saving lives and property. They're the lifeline for our homebound Americans, providing a human connection that's more valuable than we can measure.
As your representative in Congress, I pledge to stand with Postal Workers. I'll have their backs on the federal level, fighting for the rights, security, and well-being of our postal workers. Together, we'll ensure that the cherished tradition of door delivery remains a cornerstone of our communities.
