John,
The United States has the worst maternal mortality rate in the developed world. This rate is steadily rising with far higher mortality rates among Black mothers and people of color.
As a registered nurse, one of my top priorities in Washington is improving our health care system, ensuring everyone has access to quality care, and preventing these avoidable deaths.
That’s why I was proud to join nearly 200 health care providers, Black mothers, policymakers, researchers, and maternal health advocates at the Black Maternal Health Caucus 2023 Stakeholder Summit earlier this year to call on Congress to pass my Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act without delay.
The Momnibus is comprehensive legislation consisting of 13 bills addressing the inequalities baked into our health care system. One of our Momnibus bills, the Protecting Moms Who Served Act, has been signed into law.
I will never stop using my voice to advance this package and ensure every mom has access to the quality maternal care she deserves.
But I can’t do this work alone. So today, I’m humbly asking you to be one of the 4 grassroots supporters we need to donate to help power my efforts to finally get this legislation passed in Congress and reverse this upsetting trend:
