We build power at the local level because, for every horrendous headline like this, there's a candidate we're recruiting to run and change it.

It's no fluke that far-right extremists are targeting school boards and public libraries – they have a radical agenda they're determined to push on the rest of us. But, Movement Labs is stepping up because we only end this madness by kicking them out of office and electing good people in their place.

My job here at Movement Labs is ensuring we have the resources we need to recruit, fund, and support candidates fighting the good fight. We're spotlighting impactful leaders up and down the ballot to make sure they have everything they need to win. Today, I'd like to introduce (or reintroduce!) Chinua Rhodes.

Chinua ran for Trustee of his local school district in 2020 and serves as President of the Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education. Because he stepped up to run and give a voice to his community, he now leads the same public schools he attended as a kid. And he's part of the team developing budgets, shaping curriculum, and making sure kids from low-wage and housing-insecure families are supported and uplifted.
