The latest reporting from ProPublica does an excellent job connecting all the dots of the scheme I’ve been shining a light on for years: a slimy web of dark money, right-wing billionaires, amenable Supreme Court Justices, and the court fixer Leonard Leo. This scheme has lurched the judiciary and many of our American institutions toward the fringe right.

Ginni Thomas has said Leo “single-handedly changed the face of the judiciary,” but he’s hardly a household name. His cozy relationships with Republican mega-donors have allowed him to act as a luxury travel agent for Justices Thomas and Alito.

But the article goes far deeper than those extravagant yachting trips. It explains in detail exactly how Leo influenced the American legal system from the shadows by putting his Federalist Society cronies in positions across different levels of government, spending millions to get his right-wing allies on benches in state and federal courts, and making sure they got the right cases in front of them to keep the billionaires happy. As my Scheme speeches in the Senate have forewarned.

We need to put a stop to this massive Court-capture operation.
