The scale of humanitarian need across Gaza is unprecedented,
and it’s growing by the
hour. Families are racing to find safe shelter. Food,
clean water, and fuel are running out. Relentless airstrikes continue to
take a massive toll.

Mercy Corps teams and partners have worked in Gaza for decades — and we
are working to restart our humanitarian programs as soon as it is safe to
do so, providing clean water, food, hygiene supplies, and shelter.

Update:

The situation in Gaza is deteriorating rapidly. Israel’s call for over 1
million Palestinians to leave northern Gaza and relocate within 24 hours
puts at risk the lives of those forced to flee. Many people, including the
injured, the elderly, and the most vulnerable, will be unable to heed
these warnings and leave.

It’s apparent that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza — where half the
population are children — will deepen in the days and weeks to come. Mercy
Corps is working to restart our humanitarian programs in Gaza as soon as
it is safe to do so, and is committed to significantly ramping up
much-needed lifesaving assistance in the days and weeks ahead.

According to the UN, before this latest evacuation order, more than
338,000 people were displaced and about 65% were sheltering in 92 UN-run
schools operating as emergency shelters. More than 100,000 others were
seeking shelter with family or friends — but there are very few, if any,
safe places to go.

Mercy Corps has worked in Palestine for three decades (since 1986),
providing humanitarian assistance like access to water, working with
children and young people, and connecting people to economic opportunities
in an area where unemployment is over 40 percent (youth over 60 percent).

teams working to provide lifesaving support for people in places of
conflict and crisis around the world.

Thanks for your dedicated support in these extraordinarily difficult
times.

Sincerely,

The Mercy Corps team
