If you asked what I would have imagined for my first year in Congress, it would include a lot of what I’ve accomplished: helping veterans get the services they need, combating climate change, and fighting for quality, affordable health care.
But I never would have guessed that before 2020 even began -- we would be facing half a million dollars in attack ads and have multiple Republican opponents, including former Republican Congressman Scott Taylor who we defeated in 2018.
VA-02 has been rated as one of the top eight most competitive Trump-won districts in the country, but I know that we’ve beaten the odds before when pundits and election experts said we couldn’t win.
