Your Latest Briefing from the Liberal Democrats. | | Just 6 days to go until polling day! | John, it all comes down to this. In less than a week, voters in Mid Bedfordshire will choose their new MP.
This is such a close race and there’s still so much to do. We have spoken to thousands of voters over this campaign who have said they will be backing our fantastic candidate, in Emma Holland-Lindsay - now we need your help to ensure they do just that and get Emma elected!
Every vote is crucial in this race so we need as many people there as possible.
John, can you help in these crucial final days? | | | | | | | And we can’t stop until polling stations close late on Thursday night - we need your help on polling day, delivering leaflets and knocking on doors to get people out to vote. We also need help recording polling numbers outside polling stations so we know who hasn’t voted yet.
Can you help on this pivotal day? | | | Let’s go out there and elect another fantastic Lib Dem MP! | | - Horrifying violence in Israel and Palestine

Horrifying violence in Israel and Palestine | Since we woke up on Saturday morning to those horrifying scenes from Israel and Palestine, we have not shaken the feeling of shock, grief and condemnation. In fact it has only grown as the tragedy has unfolded. Our party's response has been united and unequivocal.

Autumn Conference roundup | | Thank you to everyone who joined us in Bournemouth or online for Autumn Conference. It was a truly memorable event that celebrated our recent successes and looked forward to our successes to come - in Mid Bedfordshire and the General Election!
Here are just a few highlights! | Ed Davey arrived in style alongside present and future Lib Dem MPs to kick off Conference.
Covered live by several broadcasters, this was the start of four days of fantastic coverage from the media! | Our rally on Saturday evening had incredible speakers, celebrity appearances, and of course, the return of our famous props! | The Lib Dems do policy differently from the other parties - we allow our members to vote on our plans. We passed motions on topics from health to the environment, and also passed our pre-manifesto, For A Fair Deal. | We had some incredible speeches throughout Conference, including from our special guest Kira Rudik, Ukrainian MP and Vice President of ALDE. Her inspirational speech called for our continued support for Ukraine.
You can re-watch all the speeches, and the whole live stream of Conference here: | | Conference concluded with a moving keynote speech from our leader, Ed Davey MP. Ed spoke about the big challenges facing our country and the solution - tearing down the Blue Wall!
Ed shared his personal experience of how cancer impacts patients and their families, having lost both his parents to cancer as a child. With this, he announced our ambitious plans to boost survival rates - find out more about that later in the newsletter. | | The Prime Minister’s on-brand Conference speech - typically out-of-touch | Following our own Conference, with its focus on the issues that matter most to the British public, it was the Conservatives turn to address the nation - but things could not have been more different.
Rishi Sunak’s keynote speech failed to mention soaring mortgages and rents, food and energy bills, the NHS dentist shortage, crumbling concrete and sewage dumping even once.
Here are 10 things Sunak ignored in his speech: | | | | Celebrating Black History Month October is Black History Month - a time to celebrate the enormous contributions Black people have made and continue to make to our country.
From the artists and sportspeople, to the scientists and medics who have saved lives.
Thank you for making our country what it is today. | | Our 2-month cancer treatment guarantee | The time people have to wait for cancer treatment in this country is a scandal. The Conservatives have neglected cancer patients, costing lives and causing excruciating pain and grief. That’s why fighting cancer will be a crucial mission of ours.
Announced during Ed Davey’s moving speech to Conference, we will introduce a new legal right for cancer patients to start treatment within two months of an urgent referral, alongside our 5-year cancer plan. | | | | | It was World Mental Health day this week and we Liberal Democrats know that mental health is just as vital as physical.
People are struggling. And when they turn for help, it is often not there. No one should be stuck in the awful position of waiting months on end for mental health services.
Under our plan to improve mental health care - we would end Mental Health injustice. | | | | | Work for Us | We’ve got a wide variety of vacancies - both paid and voluntary - currently available. If you’re keen to contribute in whatever capacity suits you best, we’d love to hear from you! | | | | “The British people are desperate for hope. The British people are desperate for change. The British people are desperate for a fair deal. And we are the ones who can make it happen. So let’s get to it!”
