Hey – Gavin Newsom here, Governor of California.

In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to donate to the DGA before the final mid-month deadline before Election Day, but first, I want to talk about how Democratic governors across the country are fighting back against far-right attacks on our democracy.

Radical Republicans are hellbent on dividing us – because we know their ideas are unpopular, their policies are out of touch, and their extreme message is a threat to our democracy. Just look at Ron DeSantis, one of the most anti-freedom governors in the most anti-freedom political party in the country. He’s restricted speech, banned books, and made it harder to vote in Florida.

Meanwhile, Democratic governors like me are fighting to protect and expand our fundamental rights and freedoms in states across the country. While other states rolled back access to voting, California expanded it. We took action to become a vote-by-mail state where someone could put their ballot in the mail, in a drop box, drop it off in person, or vote in person.

Republicans sued to stop us – they lost.

Protecting fundamental rights like the right to vote was a huge reason voters turned out in droves to elect Democratic governors across the country in 2022. If we’re going to continue to notch historic wins like we did last year in Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, we must continue delivering for folks across the country.
