Friend, Our Conference must continue to work toward electing a Speaker as soon as possible. There is zero time to waste. I am continuing to urge my colleagues who have thrown the House into chaos to stop playing selfish games and be solutions oriented. Iowans and Americans deserve better than this embarrassing circus. I will be working through the weekend to build consensus and move things forward for Iowans. Best, Standing with Israel The scenes we have seen out of Israel are horrible - Israel is under siege and innocent civilians are being brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists. At least 27 Americans have been murdered and more are being held hostage right now. The U.S. stands with our closest ally in the Middle East amid these barbaric attacks. Israel has the right to defend itself and its people. In the coming days, America must show leadership, moral clarity, and support for Israel. We must bring every American home. My office is in touch with Iowans who are currently stuck in Israel and working with the State Department to bring them back to the U.S. I have also called on the State Department to allow the Department of Defense to evacuate U.S. citizens and, if necessary, charter flights to bring Americans home now. The Biden Administration needs to return to maximum pressure sanctions against this regime that is backing Hamas and helped plot these attacks. We must ensure no American taxpayer dollars are sent to Iran. Standing with Israel means no longer appeasing Iran – full stop. We must continue providing military support to Israel and remaining in close communication over the coming days to ensure they have the tools to defend themselves and their people. Over 151 people on the terrorist watchlist have been stopped at the Southern Border this Fiscal Year. This should be a wake-up call to the Biden Administration that border security is national security. We must secure our border to keep our country safe from very real terrorist threats. We must call out anti-Semitism where we see it. Whether it is “Squad” Members in the halls of Congress, Hamas sympathizers in New York City, or student groups on Ivy League campuses – we should all disavow disgusting efforts to apologize for Hamas and whitewash their terrorism Iowans stand with Israel and so do I.
