Greetings,
We hope you have had a great week! Congressman Kim returned to Washington this week prepared to continue legislative business as a part of his service on behalf of New Jersey’s 3rd District. However, House Republicans are still unable to fill the House Speaker vacancy. Alongside a Republican Senator’s continued blockade of military promotions, this dysfunction remains irresponsible and dangerous to our democracy and our national security.
This week, Congressman Kim was in communication with the State Department and Biden administration following terrorist attacks in Israel and continues to push for the Speaker’s role to be filled so Congress can move forward with important legislative work on behalf of you, and to help our allies in Israel.
Congressman Kim’s Statement on the Violence in Israel
On Saturday, Congressman Kim released the following statement following violence in Israel:
The images and videos of attacks terrorizing civilians in Israel are horrifying. This violence must be condemned, and it will only inflame the tensions and cause much more blood to be shed. With the attacks continuing and reports of hostage taking, we call out for the immediate safety and security of those in harm’s way.
Congressman Kim continues to communicate directly with the State Department about security updates and options for travel out of Israel, and with the Biden administration about possible immediate assistance.
Congressman Kim Holds 68th Town Hall as a Telephone Town Hall
Thank you to everyone who joined Congressman Kim for his 68th town hall yesterday! He’s grateful for the chance to speak directly with neighbors while he works in Washington and share updates about his work in Congress on behalf of New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District.
A full recording of the town hall can be found here.
Congressman Kim began by addressing the horrific and ongoing atrocities in Israel and introduced Rabbi Melinda Panken of Temple Shaari Emeth in Manalapan, New Jersey to process the events and talk about their local and global impact. He also discussed the dysfunction in Washington caused by extreme Republican members of Congress, and the importance of filling the vacant Speaker position.
He was also joined by League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Executive Director, Ed Potosnak to discuss the Inflation Reduction Act’s tax rebates and how they can help people save money, which people can also learn more about through a resource page on our website!
Congressman Kim appreciated poignant questions from callers about the United States’ role in global conflicts, combating misinformation and disinformation around the world, the benefits of renewable energy, the impact of extreme weather, and how togetherness and understanding will combat the rise of anti-semitism.
