** Louisiana voters to decide amendment that would ban private funding for the administration of elections
------------------------------------------------------------
On Oct. 14 (yes, Saturday), Louisiana voters will decide Amendment 1 ([link removed] , a constitutional amendment that would ban private, non-governmental, and foreign funding for the administration of elections in the state.
The amendment would add the following language to the Louisiana Constitution ([link removed] : "No funds, goods, or services donated by a foreign government or a nongovernmental source shall be used to conduct elections unless provided for in the election code and subject to restrictions provided by general law."
The amendment needed two-thirds of the vote in both chambers to be referred to voters.
