Missouri Net News [link removed] Creation Justice Talks Solar
What do the Vatican, the Brahma Kumaris, and the Al-Nour Mosque all have in common? They all have solar panels installed at their facilities. Join the United Methodist Creation Justice Movement at noon at the October 18 Movement Café to learn why United Methodist churches across the country are also going solar, why it is important in terms of environmental justice, and how you can inspire your church community to go solar as well. By adopting solar energy, our institutions can help make a global shift to renewable energy and witness to their commitment to responsible environmental stewardship, as well as reduce electricity costs, allowing them to allocate resources toward other initiatives. Most importantly, solar energy can play a role in helping to support frontline communities who are most impacted by climate change.
Hosted by Rev. Richenda Fairhurst, the speakers will include:
Nicole Withrow, the Director of Sales at CollectiveSun®, LLC, where she helps nonprofits achieve their clean energy goals.
Lou Stagnitto, a retired organizational development consultant serves as the volunteer Director of the Interfaith Solar Campaign.
Rev. John Pitney co-leads the Oregon Interfaith Solar Campaign, and is on the Creation Justice team for Oregon Interfaith Power and Light.
Also joining the conversation will be people working on solar in the Florida, Oregon-Idaho, North Texas and Annual Conferences and more.
