John, I don't want any woman to ever again walk into her workplace knowing she's paid less than her male coworkers.

I know that families across New Mexico feel the same way. But we've seen again and again that the gender pay gap follows women wherever they go - whether they're bussing tables, leading successful companies or even winning the World Cup with the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team.

But women are paid just 81 cents for every dollar that a man earns. And nationwide, the numbers are far worse for women of color. But I'm out to change that: This past legislative session, we raised the minimum wage for the first time in a decade, helping tens of thousands of women and communities thrive. But we have to do even more to make sure women are paid what they're worth.

Let's do everything we can, right now, at every level of government to close the pay gap for good. That's why I need 500 more people - including you, John - to speak out with me to close the pay gap: Sign the petition, and demand that Congress take action to guarantee equal pay for equal work.

Thank you,
