MEDIA ADVISORY: Gov. Justice to celebrate opening of RHL Boulevard Connector ahead of schedule Monday at 1 p.m.
|
|
WHO: Gov. Jim Justice, state Transportation Secretary Jimmy Wriston, P.E.; and local officials.
WHAT: Gov. Justice will cut a ribbon to celebrate the early opening of a road to connect Jefferson Road with the Trace Fork shopping center in South Charleston.
In September 2023, Gov. Justice and the WVDOH awarded a $10,942,950 contract to Triton Construction Inc. to build the RHL Boulevard connector road. The project included a roughly half-mile connector road between RHL Boulevard near the South Charleston Memorial Ice Arena and Jefferson Road and included a 420-foot bridge.
By providing an additional entrance and exit into Track Fork, the new connector is expected to significantly reduce congestion on both Jefferson Road and Corridor G and improve safety for drivers.
Work on the connector was completed ahead of schedule and the connector will be open in time for the holiday shopping season, when congestion on Jefferson Road and Corridor G is heaviest.
The RHL Boulevard connector is being built in conjunction with a major Roads to Prosperity project to widen Jefferson Road to five lanes between US 60 in South Charleston and Corridor G.
WHEN: Monday, October 16, at 1:00 p.m.
WHERE: 30 RHL Blvd, South Charleston, WV 25309
The event site will be on the connector road adjacent to the South Charleston Memorial Ice Arena. Guests should enter through the Trace Fork Shopping Center and park at Target.
