Expert speakers challenge AIPAC’s harmful agenda at “Transcending the Israel Lobby 2020” conference
The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is currently holding its annual policy conference in DC. Mike Bloomberg is the only 2020 Democratic presidential candidate to attend the annual conference. Sen. Bernie Sanders tweeted, “I remain concerned about the platform AIPAC provides for leaders who express bigotry and oppose basic Palestinian rights. For that reason I will not attend their conference.” On March 1, right-wing President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, who has never apologized for his nation's genocide against its Muslim minority, took the stage at AIPAC, saying “There are many things that you can define as a common denominator for Serbs and Jews.”
There is hope—more and more Americans, including younger Jews, are distancing themselves from the right-wing AIPAC agenda.
The following expert analysts are confirmed speakers ([link removed]) on May 29, at the only national conference challenging the Israel lobby’s repressive agenda while proposing better alternatives for America:
Legendary rock musician Roger Waters discusses the results of artist boycotts of Israel and how artists can educate their fans.
Gideon Levy, Haaretz columnist and “Dean of Israeli journalism,” examines the nature of democracy in Israel, questions about human rights, the occupation and apartheid, and his views on the trajectory of Israeli and U.S. news media.
Professor Juan Cole analyzes the Israel lobby’s push for the U.S. to attack Iran and proposes better alternative paths for U.S. engagement.
Professor Joseph Massad addresses the prospects of the global movement for justice for Palestinians.
Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb reveals why Zionism is now a failing ideology among the younger generation of American Jews.
Professor Stephen Walt, co-author of The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy ([link removed]) , will provide an update on the Israel lobby’s influence over U.S. foreign policy, and advance more sensible, productive alternatives.
Media expert Sut Jhally analyzes whether American news organizations are getting better or worse in the quality, balance and accuracy of their Middle East reporting.
Reverend Don Wagner will provide insight into the misleading promises and teachings Christian Zionist leaders are making in concert with Israel lobby operatives to compel Christian evangelical support at the ballot box.
Writer and activist Sumaya Awad discusses Canary Mission blacklisting and other grave threats facing college students fighting for human rights in Palestine.
Student activist Aman Aberra will discuss efforts by the Trump administration Department of Education to quash free speech on college campuses by equating criticism of Israel with anti-Semitism.
