Dear John,

CDC data shows that in 2021 U.S. firearm fatalities reached a record high of 48,830. This means that someone was killed by a gun every 11 minutes, and preliminary data for 2022 shows little reduction in gun violence.

We as a nation are better than this. The Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions’ recent national survey on gun policy shows that a majority of Americans support gun policies proven to reduce gun violence.

Will you make a gift to help the Center do MORE to prevent the tragic consequences of gun violence?

With your help, the Center can advance strategic gun violence prevention solutions that will help fulfill a shared vision of a safer America.

There are solutions to gun violence. Change is possible.

We’ve identified five gun policies proven to prevent firearm injuries and death.

THESE 5 SAVE LIVES!

  • Firearm purchaser licensing, which requires an individual to apply for and obtain a license before purchasing a firearm.
  • Regulation of public carry of firearms, which limits the ability to carry loaded, concealed firearms in public.
  • Firearm removal laws that temporarily remove firearms from individuals at risk for suicide or violence against others.
  • Safe and secure storage of firearms, which can reduce unsupervised or unauthorized access to firearms by storing them unloaded and locked in a gun safe or case.
  • Funding to strengthen community violence interventions, which can reduce gun violence in the most impacted communities, including communities of color that have suffered from long-standing disinvestment.

Your gift will enable the Center to conduct our unique blend of research and advocacy to get results. The Center supported the passage of 17 lifesaving gun policies in states across the country this year, and we are committed to helping pass more in the year to come!

You are a vital part of the solution: your support will help the Center enact life-saving solutions.

Your contribution will help our team conduct research and collaborate with legislators, community members, law enforcement, healthcare providers, fellow advocates, and educators to enact effective gun laws.

Will you amplify the voice of the Center to advocate for policies that significantly reduce gun violence by making a gift today?

We need you with us to enact change!
