More than 500,000 people enjoy fun of the fair at Forest Rec

Goose Fair

Goosey has flown the nest after a fantastic ten-day fair at the Forest Recreation Ground, which finished last Sunday.?

I would like to thank teams from across the council who helped deliver the successful event and worked all this week to get the Forest Rec back to being a Green Flag open space.?

More than half a million people visited across the ten days and we are inviting attendees to complete our Goose Fair Visitor Survey so we can hear their views and make improvements for next year. By completing the survey, there?s also the opportunity to win tickets to panto Dick Whittington at the Theatre Royal!. Complete the survey here [ [link removed] ].?

More support for struggling families over half-term

holiday club

I?m sure our announcement earlier in the week about supermarket vouchers and free activity clubs for struggling families during the school holidays will have been welcomed.?

Pupils break up for the October half-term next Friday and we know how tough it is for many households at the moment with national cost-of-living pressures still being keenly felt locally.?

To help with this, we?ve teamed up once again with Nottingham Forest Community Trust and Trent Bridge Community Trust to offer a range of activity clubs for children who receive free school meals. There is no cost to parents and carers, and we?re also supplying supermarket vouchers to help with the weekly food shop.?

Schools will be already telling parents how they can book the sessions and more information is here... [ [link removed] ]?

Protecting children from flu this winter

cold and flu vaccinations

The annual flu vaccination programme is under way I?d urge parents to make sure their children are protected? to help stop the spread this winter.?

Children aged between six months and two years in clinical risk groups, and all children aged two to three, can get a flu vaccination via their GP. While all primary-aged children (Reception to Year 6) and secondary-aged children (Years 7 to 11) will be offered the vaccination at school through the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire School Aged Immunisation Service.??

All pregnant people (including those who become pregnant during the flu season) will also be offered the vaccine.?

Depending on their age, health conditions and other factors, children and young people will either be offered a nasal spray or injection.??

Getting the vaccination is one of the most effective things we can do to help protect us from Fflu and reduce the spread. It can also help protect others, including babies, grandparents and people with weakened immune systems who are more at risk of getting seriously ill from the virus.?
