Glenn Youngkin’s PAC sets $1.4 million ad push on abortion
If you follow politics, you know that VA Gov. Glenn Youngkin has major national political ambitions -- and that he’s going after them by making Virginia an example of just how far he can move the state in a conservative direction.
Youngkin isn’t satisfied with controlling just the statewide leadership office and the House of Delegates -- he’s coming after the VA Senate this November -- and after foundational human rights like reproductive freedom, too.
Here’s how: A new report shows that Youngkin’s PAC “Spirit of Virginia” is launching a $1.4 million statewide ad campaign to lean into the issue of abortion rights by calling for a ban of the procedure.
If his message works, he’ll flip the VA Senate and enact a statewide ban. But Republicans are also planning ahead to 2024, getting ready to flip the U.S. Senate and enact a nationwide abortion ban.
With nine Republicans already lining up to run against Tim next year (that’s more GOP challengers than any other incumbent Senator in 2024!), each of them determined to unseat him and press their extreme views on our country, we have to stand firm.
If Youngkin and his cronies succeed in flipping the VA legislature and then the U.S. Senate seat, we know exactly what they’ll do to women’s bodily autonomy.
