The U.S. Must Oppose a Premature Cease-Fire in Gaza
- Heritage unequivocally condemns the unprecedented and unprovoked terrorist attack on Israel coordinated by the Islamic Republic of Iran through its proxy Hamas.
- America must stand united with our great ally Israel and end the Biden administration policies that have appeased and emboldened our enemies around the world.
- It’s time to get Israel out of the suicidal habit of leaving Hamas standing at the end of wars started by Hamas. Israel and the U.S. should insist on the unconditional surrender or total destruction of Hamas.

Worsening Economy Pushes Consumer Near the Breaking Point
- Both the American consumer and the federal budget will soon be at the breaking point if Congress doesn’t rein in spending immediately.
- The recent comprehensive update to gross domestic product (GDP) by the Bureau of Economic Analysis revised data going back several years. It turns out that when President Donald Trump left office, the economy was growing faster than previously estimated, 4.2 percent versus 3.9 percent. Conversely, the data for President Joe Biden’s tenure has been revised down.
- Under Biden, economic growth was revised down in four quarters, just two quarters were revised up, and four were unchanged.
- Growth in government spending is crowding out the private economy, slowing growth, accelerating inflation, and making people worse off.
- Congress needs to take this situation seriously and drastically curtail spending. The current appropriations fight is the perfect opportunity to put America back on a path to fiscal sanity.

China’s Backdoor into Romania
- Romania’s decision to allow a Chinese company into its 5G network exposes a critical gap in trans-Atlantic security.
- In the past, Romania, a key ally of the United States in Eastern Europe, has been clear-eyed about the security challenges that would result should the People’s Republic of China (PRC) infiltrate its telecommunications networks. That’s why it is so surprising that Romania recently approved Chinese-owned Lenovo’s participation in its 5G network.
- There’s still time to act. Policymakers in Congress must work urgently to inform our Romanian friends that the decision to allow Lenovo to participate in the nation’s 5G network will reverse the pledges it made when it signed a 5G Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the United States in 2019. Washington must then insist that Romania withdraw its approval of Lenovo’s operations.
- The message from U.S. policymakers should be crystal clear: Learn from our mistakes and withdraw Lenovo’s approval.
