Proclamation of a National Day of Prayer and Fasting on Friday, October 13, 2023: In response to the recent terrorist attacks upon the Nation of Israel and the perpetrated heinous crimes of beheading, mutilating, raping and murder against innocent men, women, and children, I am calling upon every Lover of God, Country, and Family to appeal to Heaven and petition Almighty God to intervene on our behalf. “Oh LORD God, to whom vengeance belongs—O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth! Rise up, O Judge of the earth; render punishment to the proud. LORD, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked triumph?”—Psalm 94:1-3. Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor. Whereas we stand and unite with Israel, we ask You great LORD and Ruler of Nations to deliver us from our enemy, for You alone are Sovereign and Righteous. Oh Omnipotent God You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear knowing that You have commanded us to “Put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil…taking the shield of faith with which we will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” Now, therefore, with complete assurance upon the Holy Scriptures we Stand Fast and believe: “What shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all…”—Romans 8:31-32 and “Your hand will find all Your enemies; your right hand will find those who hate You. You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of Your anger; The LORD shall swallow them up in His wrath, and the fire shall devour them. Their offspring You shall destroy from the earth, and their descendants from among the sons of men. For they intended evil against You; They devised a plot which they are not able to perform. Therefore You will make them turn their back; You will make ready Your arrows on Your string toward their faces. Be exalted, O LORD, in Your own strength!
