BREAKING NEWS: LEGISLATIVE VICTORIES

---
Hi Supporter of Digital Freedom,

This is big. California’s governor has just signed two bills that go a long way toward protecting digital rights! Thank you to everyone who made these wins possible.

With California’s strong influence on tech policy in mind, EFF and our partners will continue working to ensure that the benefits of positive internet freedom legislation don’t stop there. Here’s what we’ve got:

*VICTORY! YOUR RIGHT TO REPAIR*

Californians: your right to repair is now law. Thanks to an advocacy coalition led by CALPIRG (California Public Interest Research Groups), individuals and independent repair shops will have more access to the materials and information they need to fix their electronics and appliances. This follows a wave of encouraging right to repair laws across the U.S.!

*VICTORY! FIGHTING DATA BROKERS*

The new CA Delete Act will hold data brokers accountable and give us needed control over our data by making it easier to exercise our privacy rights. The Act also requires data brokers to report a broader set of information about what information they collect on consumers, and strengthens enforcement mechanisms against data brokers who fail to comply.

The fight isn’t over yet! Let’s keep up the momentum and make sure that technology users everywhere can benefit from strong, commonsense protections. See where you might be able to help out:
