In this edition of The Take Down, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids’ Nicolas Suarez interviews Jamie J. Nájera , a clinical educator at Esperanza Health Centers in Chicago and a member of the Board of Directors with the National Association of Hispanic Nurses.

Jamie’s job is focused on providing education and resources to help patients quit tobacco, with an emphasis on providing evidence-based, culturally appropriate materials that best serve the many cultures in the Hispanic community. We spoke with Jamie about the impact of smoking among Hispanics, the importance of culturally sensitive approaches to tobacco prevention efforts and how collaboration and community are vital in promoting health equity.
