Farm birds need heroes like you.

Dear John,
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has left farm birds at the mercy of an industry that sees them as mere production units.
On factory farms, birds spend every minute of their lives crammed together in dark warehouses or stuffed into wire cages so small they can barely move. And because birds classified as poultry are excluded from the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act, and the USDA has refused to create humane handling regulations under the Poultry Products Inspection Act, these animals endure painful deaths that would be illegal if the victims were dogs, cats, or other farm animals.
Farm Sanctuary is leading the fight for long-overdue protections for these birds. But with nearly 1 million chickens still subjected to horrific cruelty and violence every year, we need the help of caring friends like you to keep the pressure on.
John, please be the hero these birds need—and help protect all suffering and vulnerable farm animals—by becoming a member of Farm Sanctuary today!

Farm Sanctuary has rescued thousands of abused and abandoned farm animals, including Aria, a hen who miraculously survived the gas chamber at a rendering plant; Matisse, a duck bred for foie gras production who was mysteriously dropped off on our doorstep in the middle of the night; and Elsa, a baby turkey who came to us sick, dirty, and in desperate need of care.
Thanks to compassionate people like you, we have given all of these rescued animals—and so many others a permanent home at our sanctuaries in New York and California. Here, in stark contrast to the factory farming industry, we treat each of them as our friends ... not faceless commodities.
We are so grateful for every bird we have saved and given a second chance at the lives they deserve. But with literally billions of chickens, turkeys, ducks, and other farm birds suffering in U.S. farms and slaughterhouses every year, we have to do more.
By joining Farm Sanctuary with a generous gift today, you will help us push the USDA to stop putting the lives of farm birds in the hands of an industry that cares so little about their welfare.

As a small “thank you” for your commitment to farm animals, you will receive exclusive benefits, including:
- ACCESS to the Bed & Breakfast cabin and tiny house accommodations at our New York shelter;
- Seasonal VISITS to our sanctuaries to get to know our animal residents;
- OPPORTUNITIES to sign petitions and speak out for farm animals;
- SPECIAL ALERTS with breaking news about legislation regarding farm animals, urgent rescues, and more;
- And a FREE subscription to our member magazine, which is full of heartwarming stories about the animals whose lives you’re changing through your caring support.
But, as an animal lover, you’ll find that the greatest benefit of your Farm Sanctuary membership is helping us care for our nearly 1,000 shelter residents; share the stories of the animals we save with people across the country; and keep fighting for an end to the horrific abuses in factory farms, stockyards, and slaughterhouses.
For example, we recently helped win landmark bans on foie gras production in New York City, and state-wide in California. This is what we can achieve when we work together for better conditions for farm birds!
Please help us rescue more animals like Aria, Matisse, and Elsa and speak out against the inhumane treatment of ALL farm animals by joining the Farm Sanctuary family today.
On behalf of every animal who is safe and loved at Farm Sanctuary today—and every animal who is still waiting for our help—thank you in advance for your support.
