State Department/U.S. Embassy Security Alerts:
- The U.S. Embassy is no longer sheltering in place. Normal consular services are for the most part still suspended and all U.S. Government personnel are subject to an 8pm-6am curfew, prohibited from traveling to Gaza and areas within 7 miles from Gaza, as well as personal travel within the West Bank.
- For U.S. Citizens currently in the Gaza Strip, all are advised to shelter in place via the Israeli government and to stock up on food and water.
- U.S. citizens in Israel who have family members missing in the Gaza periphery can go to the Israel National Police’s combined assistance center at 4 HaNegev Street in Airport City.
- All U.S.-based airlines have suspended travel in and out of Israel’s international hub, Ben Gurion Airport. As of October 12th, there are only two airlines still operating: Emirates and El Al.
- Flight operations in and out of neighboring Jordan are normal, pursue flying out of Amman’s Queen Alia International Airport.*
*We have received reports of the border with Jordan being closed. We are still working to verify this information but U.S. Citizens seeking commercial air travel out of Amman should be cautious of overland crossing availability.
Departure Guidance
While commercial flights remain available and should be considered a first option, starting tomorrow, October 13th, the U.S. State Department will start offering departure assistance to American citizens through chartered transportation. - Any American wanting to use this method of transportation must complete and submit the Crisis Intake Form.
Shelter in Place: U.S. Citizens, unless they have a scheduled flight and are moving to reach that flight, should otherwise shelter in place. - The Israeli government has declared martial law and rocket/missile attacks are still occurring across the country.
The most important action for U.S. Citizens in Israel to do is complete the U.S. State Department's Crisis Intake Form. For the most up to date information please visit the U.S. Embassy in Israel's website below.
