This initiative will undergo clean-up language in the 2024 legislative process before heading to voters’ ballots for final approval.
🏗️ Making It Easier to Create More Affordable Homes - SB 4 (Wiener) - Opens over 171,000 potentially developable acres statewide owned by faith institutions or nonprofit colleges, which is nearly five times the size of the city of Oakland, for streamlined affordable housing projects.
- SB 423 (Wiener) - Extends the streamlining provisions of Senator Weiner's SB 35 and allows fast-track development of affordable housing and reasonable labor standards for new housing development.
💪 Strengthening Our Regional Approach - AB 1319 (Wicks) - Maximizes benefits that Bay Area Housing Finance Authority (BAHFA) can deliver for the needs of Bay Area residents facing rising housing costs, housing instability, and homelessness.
🌆 Ensuring Public Lands Serve the Public Good - AB 480 (Ting) - Updates the Surplus Land Act, bringing clarity and adding consequences for violations.
👪 Protecting Low-Income Homeowners - AB 572 (Haney) - Caps some HOA fee increases for Below Market Rate units developed in 2025 and onwards at either 5% plus inflation or a flat 10%, whichever is less.
