Dear John

We have a couple of actions to help race horses, with the Cheltenham Festival fast
approaching. On the lighter side, our Easter chocolate products are now available
in the shop. Please read on for more!

YOU BET, THEY DIE
The notorious Cheltenham Festival will soon be upon us (10-13 March). Three
horses died at last year’s Festival, and seven the previous year.

Most people are not aware of how dangerous racing is for the horses forced to
participate. There is still just enough time to order your leaflets so that you
can help raise awareness in your local town centre.

MORE MPS BACK A BAN ON THE WHIP!
To date, 38 MPs have signed an Early Day Motion to ban the whip in racing! If you
haven't yet written to your MP, please help us to keep up the momentum, and
write to your MP straight away.

While we would like to see an end to this cruel and exploitative 'sport', a ban
on the whip would be a major step forward for horses. Thank you for all your
help.

HELP SQUIRRELS BY WRITING TO YOUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER!
While social media is a great place to stand up for grey squirrels, writing to
your local newspaper can be a brilliant way to reach new audiences. We have put
together some example letters that you can use to help you do this.

You can find the contact details of your local newspapers' letters page on their
website, or in the newspaper. If you need help finding this, please get in touch
at [email protected].

ASK THE MINISTER TO BAN GAME BIRD CAGES!
On game bird farms across the country, pheasants and partridges are kept in
cages. They cannot express natural behaviours such as foraging, dustbathing,
roosting and flying despite the Code of Practice saying that they must.

This suffering cannot continue, and we know the Minister is sympathetic to this
issue. That is why we are asking you to contact your MP today, and urge him or
her to write directly to Zac Goldsmith, the relevant Minister.
