Daniels, Dresser Named 2023 Bioethics Founders' Award Recipients Awards ceremony and more at ASBH annual meeting
Norman Daniels, PhD, of Harvard, and Rebecca Dresser, JD, of Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, are the recipients of the 2023 Bioethics Founders’ Award. Given by The Hastings Center, the award recognizes individuals from around the world who have made substantial, sustained contributions to bioethics in ways that have advanced thinking and practice in medicine, the life sciences, and public policy. Hastings Center President Vardit Ravitsky will present the awards tomorrow at the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH) annual conference in Baltimore. Read more.

Investigating the Influence of AI on Teen Health Potential benefits and harms
Adolescents are known to be early adopters of emerging communication technologies, but little is known about how they use ChatGPT and other AI platforms and the potential implications on their health, write Hastings Center president Vardit Ravitsky and co-authors in a letter in the Journal of Adolescent Health. “For instance, can AI be employed to address adolescent mental health by providing chat-based interactions or answering questions related to sexual and reproductive health?” By understanding how AI can help support teens, “we may potentially bridge gaps in healthcare access and enhance the well-being of adolescents.” Read the letter.
