Today, families across the country are already experiencing the impacts of climate change, as wildfire smoke and excessive heat drive children indoors, or historic storm systems damage and level entire communities. In response to this new landscape, Start Early celebrates the release of the
"Flourishing Children, Healthy Communities and a Stronger Nation, The U.S. Early Years Climate Action Plan” – recommendations developed by the U.S. Early Years Climate Action Task Force to reimagine the policies and practices in which we serve our youngest learners. |
Since its launch in summer 2022, Start Early President Diana Rauner has served as Co-Chair of the Task Force, convened by Capita and This is Planet Ed at the Aspen Institute to discuss impacts of climate change on young children, hear from early learning providers and families and identify ways to best support children and families as they grow in this changing world.
Start Early believes that our early childhood system should be high-quality, equitable and responsive—and climate-resilient. Adapting and expanding our child- and family-facing services in the years ahead is especially critical to our ability to support those most impacted by climate disruption: pregnant people, infants and young children, particularly those with disabilities and those impacted by environmental injustice and racism in America.
Learn more about this new set of recommendations and how Start Early aims to reimagine its work in partnership with families and leaders nationwide. |
